Old Town Elk Grove

The Old Town Elk Grove six million dollar revitalization project included approximately ten months of construction and area improvements to the Old Town Elk Grove Historic District. The scope of this project included installing new sections of roadway, turn lanes, pavement restriping and resurfacing, pedestrian refuges, a new water main line, parking lot facility, and a traffic signal.  The project also featured new decorative sidewalks, signs, benches, and streetlights to reflect the historic architecture of Old Town. These improvements were designed to boost the economic vitality and attractiveness of the historic district. Numerous community workshops and public participation led to a successful completion of the multi-million dollar project.

Neighborhood Livability (Speed Control) Program

The Neighborhood Livability (Speed Control) Program is dedicated to improve safety in residential areas by implementing various traffic control strategies to manage vehicle speeds. Through extensive public outreach, the program identified several neighborhoods to implement the traffic control measures. These measures included traffic circles, speed cushions, chokers, striping, and/or signage changes. The project has been a tremendous success with the community, and community feedback reports an increase sense of safety in neighborhoods.

Lewis Stein Road Widening Project

The Lewis Stein Road Widening Project involved extending Lewis Stein Road from West Stockton Boulevard to Big Horn Boulevard as a two-lane facility, including a bridge over Laguna Creek, with a landscaped median, bike lanes, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, an equestrian bridge, and streetlights.  It is the first project in the City of Elk Grove to include a bridge to accommodate bicyclists and horseback riders!

Sheldon Road Widening / State Route 99 Interchange Project

Sheldon Road Widening / State Route 99 Interchange Project

The Sheldon Road / State Route 99 Interchange Project consists of replacing the existing two-lane interchange with a six-lane facility, widening and realigning the on and off-ramps, realigning East and West Stockton Boulevards, and widening Sheldon Road to six lanes with a landscaped median, curb, gutter, sidewalks, streetlights, and roadside landscaping. Once completed, this new interchange will accommodate thousands of motorists traveling on State Route 99 each day. The construction of a park-and-ride-lot is also a component of this project, providing a multi-modal element to the interchange project.

Bond Road Widening Project

Bond Road Widening Project

This project involved the widening of Bond Road from two to four lanes with a landscape median and roadside landscaping.  The project also included reconstruction of two bridges over Laguna Creek, new traffic signals at Crowell Drive, Quail Cove East, and Sierra River Drive, along with intersection improvements at Elk Grove-Florin and Waterman Roads.
