Grant Line 99 Interchange Awarded Interchange Project of the Year Grant Line 99 Interchange was awarded the 2009 Interchange Project of the Year by the California Transportation Foundation, a statewide nonprofit organization representing California’s transportation community. The City of Elk Grove and Interwest Consulting Group began an aggressive strategy to modernize the old interchange back in 2003. Interwests’ team of engineers, real property staff, and transportation financing/programming staff were commissioned to finish the planning and construction of the interchange within five years. Interwest helped secure $23 million from the Measure A Bond approved in 2004 by county voters, and was the first project to be completed under Measure A. Our Real Estate handled Right-of-Way acquisitions, including eminent domain, to keep the project on its demanding construction schedule. The project involved 37 parcels of improved and unimproved properties with commercial, industrial, and/or residential uses. Working extensively with the community, local business owners, and Federal and local government agencies, Interwest held several public workshops to not only keep the public informed, but also to identify goals and directives that would benefit the community as a whole. Interwest finished construction of the Grant Line Interchange in five years as requested by the City. The new Grant Line Road/SR 99 Interchange provides safer freeway access, improved local and regional traffic flow, and improved mobility and access to existing and future businesses. The new interchange has six lanes (including a metered HOV lane) and future capacity to accommodate up to eight lanes on SR 99, with two-lane off-ramps and diagonal and loop on-ramps. "It was an honor to receive the Interchange Project of the Year designation. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to making this monumental project a reality," said Mayor Pat Hume. "As one who uses this interchange frequently, the real winners are everyone who now has a safer and more efficient way to get where they need to be." City of Folsom Completes Folsom Lake Crossing Bridge The City of Folsom, California held a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 28, 2009 to celebrate the opening of the Folsom Lake Crossing Bridge. Interwest was a partner on this project and provided full-service real estate acquisition services to the City of Folsom and the Army Corps of Engineers for the Bridge / Road Project. This fast-track, $132 million dollar project required meticulous management of right-of-way activities, including the acquisition from two private property owners as well as multiple federal and state agencies. The bridge has four traffic lanes, a two-way bicycle lane and an off-street bicycle and pedestrian trail. Colonel Thomas Chapman, Sacramento District Commander, US Army Corps of Engineers stated in a press release, “The speed of this project is truly an accomplishment and would not have been possible without the tremendous collaboration of our partners and Congressional delegation.” |
